External Factors

There are external factors that could enhance Beacon’s performance.


Chrome Settings

The following browser settings will enhance Beacon’s performance for users accessing the web dispatcher interface through Google Chrome.
* The following instructions apply only to the Chrome desktop browser application.

To access the browser settings:

  1. With the browser open, click the Browser menu (3 dots) icon on the top right corner of the toolbar
  2. Locate and click the Settings tab

On the browser settings:

  1. Locate and click on Performance
  2. Under Memory, click the Add button beside to “Always keep these sites active”
  3. On the emergent dialog type the url: https://beacon.trekmedics.org/
  4. When finished, click Add
  5. Under Power, click the switch to turn off Energy Saver

There might be more settings depending on the device and operating system where the browser is being used.


Edge Settings

There are browser settings that will benefit the performance of Beacon for users accessing the web dispatcher interface through Microsoft Edge.
* The following instructions only apply for the Edge desktop browser application

To access the browser settings:

  1. With the browser open, click the Browser menu (3 dots) icon on the top right corner of the toolbar
  2. Locate and click the Settings tab

On the browser settings:

  1. Locate and click on System and Performance
  2. Scroll until Optimize Performance
  3. Locate “Never put these sites to sleep” and click the Add button
  4. On the emergent dialog type the url: https://beacon.trekmedics.org/
  5. When finished, click Add

There might be more settings depending on the device and operating system where the browser is being used.
